Bio
My name is Paymon Bidari.
I started prosecuting child abuse cases in 1999 when I served as a deputy county counsel (cross deputized as a deputy district attorney). Over the years, I tried hundreds of child abuse cases- focusing on sex abuse. I not only prosecuted these cases, but also made sure the survivors were afforded the opportunities to rehabilitate through extensive therapy and clinical intervention. My goal was twofold: to prosecute child abusers to the fullest extent possible, and to empower the survivors and their families in overcoming the adverse effects caused by the abuse.
I have been a member of the Juvenile Law Institute since 2001. Twice, I was invited to speak at the National Institute of Juvenile Law on how to prosecute child molest cases and rehabilitate families.
I’ve also appeared before the California Court of Appeal (Fourth Division) on the legal briefs I drafted and presented. Chief Justice Ramirez lauded me as “an attorney with both a brain and a heart.”
Several of my legal articles related to children’s legal rights were published in the Journal of Juvenile Law (Volume 17) wherein I also served as the Managing Editor (Volume 18). For almost a decade, I taught Advanced Legal Research and Writing at the University of Riverside Extension.
In prosecuting child abuse cases, I learned it is important to not allow the defense team to challenge the survivor’s emotional state or vulnerabilities, but rather to keep the focus on the facts and the evidence.
In cases where there is no physical evidence and the survivor is unable to adequately attest to the abuse, corroborative evidence is used to support the survivor’s testimony.
Having prosecuted hundreds of child abuse cases, I am well familiar with the clinical and forensic aspects of such cases and have the necessary experience in dealing with experts who would testify either on behalf of or against the survivor. In serving the survivors’ rights, my firm works closely with medical providers, law enforcement, crimes against children agencies, social services and other related agencies and clinicians. My firm offers Survivor Advocates to ensure survivors receive the support they need and deserve.
Sex abuse (especially child sex abuse) is personal to me as unfortunately someone very close to me was sexually abused when she was a child. I am all too familiar with the devastating affects sex abuse has on the survivors and their families. As such, I have a passion for prosecuting sex offenders.
We strongly encourage survivors to pursue their rights- whether it be in the civil court arena or elsewhere, wherein they can seek and obtain adequate remedies for the injuries they sustained as a result of the abuse.
We know that survivors may never be fully compensated for their injuries, but our firm utilizes the civil judicial system to afford survivors a chance to be heard and healed so that their cause results in positive changes.
I consider myself and my team at Bidari Civil Defense fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to fight on, and in, behalf of sex abuse survivors. We believe we can be better and stronger if we take on sex abuse.
We know together, we can combat sex abuse.
